Vegetables & Fruits will be judged according to Agriculture & Horticulture Judging Standards for Ontario Fairs. Prepared and Printed by the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies.
1. Exhibitors are only to submit only the number specified. Roots/Vegetables/Fruits are to be displayed on disposable plates.
Uniformity: all exhibits should be the same size and shape.
Maturity: the overall quality of the exhibit is determined by the freshness.
Freedom from blemishes or bruises due to insects, disease, spray or mechanical damage.
True to Type: all exhibits show characteristics of their true type and colour appropriate to their class.
Showmanship: quality of exhibit, freshness, size, freedom from damage and colour appropriate to their class. Presentation is very important.

Tip: Beans – uniform, plump but not over ripe pods, with short stem intact.

Tip: Carrots trim tops to approximately ½ in. (1.27cm) above the crown. ½ in. (1.27cm) above the crown. Tap root should be left on. Root may be rubbed clean, not washed or scrubbed.

Tip: no bleached or discolored kernels, all kernels are to be the same size and shape, mature kernels are plump, normal colour, no rodent, insect or mechanical damage, cob should be free from disease (mold, sooty spores).

Tip: Onions trim tops 1-2 ins., above bulb - well dried. only jagged and dirty scales should be removed.

Tip: Peppers smooth surface and uniform in colour. 3-4 crowns or points. Stem ½ in. (1.27cm) attached.

31. “White” Potatoes (beige/brown/tan skin, white flesh), variety named, 5.

Tip: Potatoes tubers should be true to variety, brushed clean, no skin damaged. Free from greening (known as sunburn), as well as disease, insect and mechanical damage. Should be one cultivar. Should be smooth, swallowed eyed, uniform in size. Not less than 2 in. (5cm) in diameter.

A display of garden produce in a basket or tray. Must include at least 5 different fruit or vegetable varieties, at least 1 decorative flower and at least 1 culinary herb. Judged on quality, showmanship and variety.
